Your Child’s 18 Month Visit to MVP: What to Expect
Screenings:
- You will be asked to complete a developmental questionnaire before the visit. Please be advised the questionnaire is long and requires some testing/play with your child, so it is recommended that you work on it a few days before the visit.
- You will be asked to complete an autism screening tool called the MCHAT
Treatments:
- If you have not yet seen the dentist, the medical assistant will apply fluoride to your child’s teeth
Meeting with your Provider:
After the initial measurements from the medical assistant, your provider will join you in the room. During this time, we will:
- Discuss your baby’s feeding and behavior
- Perform a complete physical exam
- Answer all of your questions
We will spend some time during the visit reviewing the screenings you completed.
Vaccines:
- Your child will receive a booster of the Hepatitis A vaccine
- Seasonally – Flu and Covid vaccines are offered
Developmental Milestones:
- Motor: walks without holding on, scribbles, drinks from a cup with some spilling, tries to use a spoon, climbs on/off a couch without help
- Language: Says 3+ words besides ‘mama’ or ‘dada’, follows one-step directions without gestures
- Social: points, puts hands out for you to wash them, looks at a few pages of a book with you, helps you dress them by pushing arm through sleeve, looks to parent to make sure you are close by
- Cognitive: copies you doing chores like sweeping, plays with toys in a simple way, like pushing a toy car
