Baby’s One Year Visit to MVP: What to Expect
Screenings:
- Your child will receive vision and hearing screenings
Bloodwork:
- Your child will receive a fingerstick to check their hemoglobin and lead levels
Meeting with your Provider:
After the initial measurements from the medical assistant, your provider will join you in the room. During this time, we will:
- Discuss your child’s growth and development
- Perform a full exam
- Answer all of your questions
We will spend some time during the visit discussing:
- Transition to toddlerhood
- Nutrition, and switching from formula to whole milk if applicable
- Review of the bloodwork and screenings done
Vaccines:
Your child will receive 3 vaccines, plus seasonal flu and/or Covid vaccines
- Priorix/MMR – Protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. With this vaccine, there can be a delayed reaction with fever and rash 7-10 days after the vaccine.
- Varicella – Protects against chicken pox
- Vaqta – Protects against hepatitis A
- Seasonally – Flu and Covid vaccines are offered. A 1 month booster will be recommended after the first dose.
Developmental Milestones:
- Motor: pulls up to stand, cruises, drinks from a cup without a lid, with help, picks things up between their thumb and pointer finger
- Language/Communication: Waves ‘bye-bye’, calls a parent ‘mama’ or ‘dada’ or another special name, understands ‘no’
- Social: Plays games like pat-a-cake
- Cognitive: Puts something in a container, looks for things they see you hide
